Applications sought for the Board of Directors – British Marine Group

Applications are now welcome for a number of positions on the Board of Directors for the British Marine Group (the “Group Board”), which is made of the following companies:

1. British Marine Federation Limited
2. BMF Property Limited
3. Southampton International Boat Show Limited 4. National Boat Shows Limited.

We are looking for committed individuals, with a passion for the marine industry, to use their business acumen to provide advice and guidance.

The roles will involve being at the forefront of British Marine and the Boat Shows, and successful applicants will have a variety of responsibilities, which will include working with the Senior Management Team on:
• General oversight of British Marine, its policies and decisions, taking Council proposed strategies into account
• Setting the annual business plan for British Marine, including the organisation’s objectives and policies and monitoring performance against it
• Agreeing the Boat Show strategy and business plan for promoting and managing our Boat Shows in the UK
• Considering British Marine’s exhibition strategy within the UK to enhance the promotion of boating as a leisure activity
• Monitoring the performance of the Shows

Successful applicants would be asked to provide around 12 days of their time a year on a voluntary basis.

The term for successful applicants will be 3 years from the date of British Marine’s Annual General Meeting this summer, with the possibility of re-election for a further 3-year term in 2021.

Please also note, your application form will be provided to members of British Marine Council for them to consider and vote upon your application, with successful applicants then taking office following British Marine’s Annual General Meeting.

Member Representatives – 4 positions available*

Eligibility
All applicants for the Member Representative positions must be either a shareholder, director, owner or employee of a current British Marine member organisation, and must continue to be one of these designations for the duration of their term.

Should such British Marine member organisation cease to be a member of British Marine, then the Member Representative would also cease to be a member of the Group Board.
Exhibitor Representatives – 3 positions available*

Eligibility
All applicants for the Exhibitor Representative positions must be either a shareholder, director, owner or employee of a current British Marine member organisation who have exhibited at either the most recent London Boat Show, or TheYachtMarket.com Southampton Boat Show. Once appointed, should their organisation cease to exhibit at both Boat Shows, they will not be eligible for re-election for a second term.

Again, should such British Marine member organisation cease to be a member of British Marine, then the Exhibitor Representative would also cease to be a member of the Group Board.

Please note that other than Pip Woods, who will be eligible for a second term in 2019, and Ian Cooke, who has been elected to the position of President-Elect, all other current Member and Exhibitor Representatives are eligible for re-election this year.
