BoatBot’s AI-powered platform aims to ‘fix your boat with a photo’
BoatBot, an app designed to simplify boat service management, has launched BoatBot 2.0, the latest version of its AI-powered platform.
BoatBot was developed by David Johndrow, a master captain, and Maryann Johndrow, an AI expert. The platform integrates AI with boating expertise and is designed to create an efficient boat management platform.
BoatBot 2.0 builds on the original platform’s AI boat diagnostics features, which include real-time communication, predictive maintenance and digital service records.
The updated platform introduces CaptainAI, an AI-powered tool that can instantly identify boat parts using its AI Parts Identifier. This function enables users to take a photo of a core system ID plate, such as an engine or generator, and instantly receive part numbers along with links to order replacements. Additionally, the advanced troubleshooting function provides diagnostics and step-by-step guidance for common issues, with DIY videos to assist users. For larger jobs or those requiring professional help, the platform’s vendor locator connects users with trusted local technicians.
“BoatBot’s CaptainAI is like having a ChatGPT specifically trained for your boat,” says Johndrow, founder of BoatBot. “With just two clicks to a solution, you can solve issues, order parts, or connect with technicians—saving time and frustration.”
He adds: “BoatBot’s advanced AI, powered by our own custom-trained Large Language Model (LLM), is specifically designed for the marine industry. Trained and normalised for nearly a year on boater needs, technician requirements, and dealership expectations, BoatBot provides accurate and personalized responses to all your boating questions.”
BoatBot says its 2.0 iteration provides benefits such as predictive maintenance, which anticipates and addresses maintenance needs before they become larger issues. Real-time communication between boat owners, service vendors, and brokers helps ensure transparency, while the digital service records function offers a centralised repository for maintenance activities.
BoatBot 2.0 is available now, and new users can take advantage of a free trial to explore the platform’s capabilities.
