British Marine’s Spring Expo line-up announced

British Marine has lined up a great series of talks as part of its Spring Expo . The flagship trade event for marine professionals takes place on 4-5 February 2020 at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

Once registered, participants can attend any (or all) of these free talks.

Environment – taking an in-depth look at the opportunities available with the development of alternative propulsion systems in a zero emissions future. The panel includes Graeme Hawksley, Managing Director at Hybrid Marine, Jamie Marlow discussing pure electric technology, and Alasdair Reay, Managing Director at HPiVS, discussing hydrogen power.

Participation – speakers will look at how segmentation is used in other leisure industries to effectively personalise, develop and communicate product offers.

Apprenticeships – ideal for SMEs, this session will cover the spectrum of apprenticeship opportunities, including non-marine related schemes, and the process of recruiting an apprentice and the support available. Delivered by Jason Sanders, Learning & Quality Improvement Coach at Paragon Skills, Lesley Chantler, Head of Curriculum (Marine and Construction) at Brockenhurst College, and Paul Newcombe, Marine Engineering Lecturer, CEMAST, Fareham College.

Small Commercial – how to find and complete Tender documents, plus updates on the MCA Technology Innovation Group’s interpretations for workboats.

Social Media – how to reach more customers and ultimately increase the bottom line with this often under-utilised tool. Join Ben Taylor from Flagship Digital Marketing to discuss the impact on sales when using social media marketing.

Brexit – what could it mean for boatbuilders? Ross Wombwell, British Marine’s Head of Technical, will be talking about Harmonised Standards for vessels and their components, while Alasdair Reay will be discussing the Certification process of CE marking and UKCA marking.

Cyber Security – Join Simon Newman, Head of Cyber and Business Services for Police Crime Prevention Initiatives to learn how to protect business assets and reduce vulnerability to the most common types of cyber crime.

Managing Change – Gita and Geoff Langston from GL Connects offer advice on a variety of ways businesses can cost-effectively manage change.

Ticketed events include the Superyacht UK Technical Seminar, Meet the Buyer and British Marine Trades Association Awards Dinner, in association with Marine Industry News.

The expo will also feature a Trade Connections area with brands such as Aquafax, Roaming Expert, Dixon Group, Meridian Chartware, North Marketing and Celsus UK, and will offer the opportunity to meet new suppliers and explore the latest technology revolutionising businesses.
