British Motor Yacht Show named biggest Spring motorboat show in the UK

With seven boat model debuts, a sixty five boat exhibition and showcasing eighteen of the world’s finest motorboat brands, the 2019 British Motor Yacht Show made its mark this spring. Backed by top British luxury motor yacht brands Fairline, Sunseeker and Princess in partnership with Premier Marinas, the show took place at Swanwick Marina from Friday 17th until Sunday 19th May 2019.

Featuring a stunning collection of yachts from Fairline Southampton, Sunseeker Southampton and Princess Motor Yacht Sales; the in-water displays were a ‘must visit’ for serious buyers who wanted to avoid the crowded international shows.

Moreover, a unique addition to this year’s show was the presence of high profile overseas brands including Agapi, Axopar, Azimut, Bavaria, Brabus, Chris Craft, Greenline, Hinckley, Invictus, Jeanneau, Nordhavn, Prestige, Sealine as well as Williams Ribs and Highfield Ribs.

Fairline had a successful show, with customers offered the opportunity to board the highly-anticipated Targa 43 – finalist in the Motorboat Awards 2019 and making its debut at the show. Richard Bates, Managing Director was impressed with the outcome: “Now in its seventh year, the interest and atmosphere at the show was off the scale compared to all the previous years.”

Leading international motorboat magazine Editor, Hugh Andreae concurs: “There was a notable buzz about the show this year thanks to the wider variety of boats on display. If you were serious about buying a new motorboat this was a must-visit event.”

A three day event, Princess Motor Yacht Sales unveiled a new breed of yacht at the show, the Princess R35. A provocative, fully carbon specimen, powered by V8 engines and reaching a top speed of 50 knots; presenting the very latest in advanced technology and naval architecture. “Princess are very pleased to have been part of and a major supporter of the 2019 BMYS,” says Sales Director, Roger Lipman, of Princess Motor Yacht Sales. “The show was bigger and better attended than ever and we are very happy with the business generated and the superb atmosphere enjoyed by all exhibitors and visitors. A truly successful and friendly show!”

Sunseeker Southampton also impressed visitors with fourteen Sunseekers on display, including the award winning Sunseeker Manhattan 66. Spencer Brown, Sales Director of Sunseeker Poole comments: “The British Motor Yacht Show has become an integral part of the annual boating calendar and this year has shown a welcomed and marked uplift of success. The show is extremely well-organised and gives our pre-qualified customers a more informal, boutique-style show where they can look at the various boat companies in a relaxed manner. If I were buying a boat of this stature, I would certainly prefer to come to this show.”

A new exhibitor to this year’s show, Nordhavn, who is also a tenant at Swanwick Marina, remarks on how well orchestrated the show was and the professionalism of the marina team: “The whole event was slick, well organised and staff their usual friendly helpful selves!” said Philip Roach, Director of Nordhavn. “Attendance was good but importantly the visitors were very well qualified. Very much looking forward to Nordhavn being a regular at the show in the future.”

The 2019 show, which was supported with live music entertainment and an artisan gin bar, built on the success of previous years with luxury motorcar brands, courtesy of Brabus and Rybrook complementing the luxury motor yachts.
