BRP reports record second quarter sales

BRP today reported sales of C$1.02bn, up 20% from its second fiscal quarter a year ago. Net income rose to C$100m, compared to a loss of C$68.8m for the same period last year.

BRP said higher wholesale deliveries in its Year-Round and Seasonal Products categories led to the sales increase. Sales in its Seasonal Products division, which includes Sea-Doo personal watercraft, rose to C$318.6m compared to C$280.5m a year ago. The company credited a higher number of personal watercraft sold. Its Propulsion Systems category, which includes Evinrude outboards and Rotax engines, was up to C$105.4m compared to C$99.9m a year earlier. The gains were due to higher outboard sales.

“For the back end of FY2018, I am confident that our retail momentum will continue as planned, leading to the successful delivery of our guidance, which was adjusted to reflect the impact of our recent SIB,” said José Boisjoli, president and CEO, in a statement.

BRP said it expects year-end sales to be up 4% to 8% compared to fiscal 2017, with normalised net income up 10% to 16% for the year.
