Dual launch for Benetti

Italian shipyard Benetti has announced that two more superyachts from the shipyard’s successful Fast 125’ series have hit the water in Viareggio.

Recognised in The Superyacht Intelligence Annual Report 2018: New Build as the most active superyacht builder in the world, Benetti appears to be going from strength to strength.

In the last five years, Benetti has delivered a cumulative LOA of 2,491.9m, which means that singlehandedly the shipyard has contributed 14 per cent of the Italian order book (in terms of superyachts delivered), which makes the shipyard the most successful facility in Italian history. So far this year, Benetti has launched four yachts over 30m, including the two new Fast 125’ units.

Named M/Y My Way and M/Y Charade, the two new vessels have been constructed in composite and are planned for delivery to their owners before the summer season. Utilising a propulsion package developed in collaboration with Rolls Royce, both yachts have an Azipull Carbon system, which according to the shipyard, “allows for better distribution of the space on board and maintains a high propulsion efficiency.”

Designed by Stefano Righini, who is responsible for 68 per cent of the delivered Benetti fleet, the Fast 125’ sport a combination of angular and curved windows which gives the yachts a degree of balance in their profile. The newly launched also share what Benetti calls the Displacement to Planing (D2P) hull, which essentially combines the benefits of a displacement hull while at low speeds and that of a planing hull at higher speeds. Developed by Pierluigi Ausonio in collaboration with the Azimut Benetti research and development centre, this hull configuration facilitates reduced energy consumption at cruising speeds and a top speed of 20 knots.

The interiors of the yachts have been created by British design studio RWD based in Beaulieu, Hampshire. Owners can select one of three interior styling options, called Land, Sea or Air, but in the case of M/Y My Way and M/Y Charade both yachts are fitted out in the Air configuration, which is described as a “modern and minimal interior,” by the shipyard.

Now with 31 superyachts on its order book, seven of which have been launched, Benetti undoubtedly has one of the largest order book contributions to the Italian fleet, which should retain the shipyard’s position as the most active builder in the world. In 2018 the shipyard plans to deliver 14 superyachts, according to data sourced from The Superyacht Intelligence Agency, which will be the most yachts Benetti has delivered in one since 2008 and marking the return of its historical levels of activity.
