E. P. Barrus moves to new site

E.P. Barrus is to relocate to new premises in Bicester

After a seven year search E.P. Barrus – in its centenary year – has a new site that allows it to consolidate its operations under one roof and remain in Bicester.

The company has been based in the town since 1977 and expects the move to take place in 2019.

“We are delighted to announce our exciting relocation plans in this, our centennial year,” commented Robert Muir, E. P. Barrus MD. “We are looking forward to the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for Barrus, and integrating into the new village community within the innovative, Graven Hill Development.”

Mr Muir continued: “In addition to securing the future of our existing loyal workforce, I am confident that we will be creating more job opportunities over the next few years in support of our long term, strategic business growth.”

The company will this summer provide power for the SUNUS Ocean Racing Spectre race boat as the team attempts to break the world record for the fastest circumnavigation of the British Isles this summer.

The race boat , based on the Spectre 32R and the original 31ft Phantom Powerboat racing hull, will be powered by supercharged Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines and capable of running almost 100mph.

The Mercury Racing Verado 400R is the most powerful consumer outboard ever produced by Mercury and provides the highest power-to-weight ratio of all other four-stoke outboards in its class.

The team goal is to complete the circumnavigation in 60 hours, running the boat at 45mph non-stop.

In addition to suopplying the engines, Barrus will supply technical support.
