Echandia wins E-Prize for climate innovation

Maritime battery specialist, Echandia, has been awarded with the 2021 E-Prize, Sweden’s most prestigious award for climate innovation.

Of its decision, the E-Prize jury says: “With the goal to do for shipping what Tesla done to cars – a revolution in electrification, Echandia’s unique and powerful battery technology is on the path to minimize CO2 emissions in the maritime world.”

The award aims to encourage the development of Swedish companies that contribute, innovate, and enable an energy and climate transition.

Echandia was one of three finalists in the Sustainable Transport category. The other companies in the category were the pleasure boat manufacturer Candela and Chargenode, which makes smart charging stations for cars.

Magnus Eriksson, CEO, Echandia, comments: “I am both proud and grateful for this award. It strengthens us in our continued work with innovation and technological development towards an electrified and emission-free global fleet. We are happy that what we do captures the interest of the outside world and see it as proof that we are on the right track.”
