Maritime union RMT to hold demo defending victimised Stena Line ‘Holyhead 3’ Union Reps

Maritime union RMT has confirmed that it will be holding a demonstration against management victimisation of union reps on Stena Line, Irish Sea, on:

Saturday 15th December at 11.30am, Stena House, Station Approach, Holyhead LL65 1DQ

The demonstration – in support of the Holyhead 3 – is taking place to protest at Stena Line calling these RMT members into ad hoc one-to-one meetings with management to discuss personal redundancy agreements and then placing them on indefinite ‘authorised’ leave.

RMT believes that the treatment of three of their members represents a malicious attack on their trade union and undermines the union’s ability to organise and represent members at Holyhead.

RMT general secretary Mick Cash says: “Our three union reps have clean disciplinary records, first-rate appraisal records and have completed a combined 73 years’ worth of service for the company.

“This is a case of union-bashing by Stena. RMT will be making it clear to the employer that they cannot treat our members or their union with such open contempt.”
