Peters & May hold seminar in a bid to prepare customers for Brexit

As the Brexit negotiations continue, much of the country is on tenterhooks not knowing what to expect. After much uncertainty following numerous rejected deal scenarios, Peters & May’s expert in-house Customs Team took matters into their own hands.

Since the UK European Union membership referendum in June of 2016, Peters & May has been committed to ensuring their clients are fully updated. As proceedings come to a head this month, increasing anxiety builds amongst forwarding clients over the post-Brexit customs environment.

In a bid to alleviate concerns and support clients, Peters & May hosted a ‘Brexit & Beyond’ conference at the Holiday Inn, Eastleigh earlier this month. Inviting both clients and those within the freight forwarding industry looking for Brexit related customs advice, the seminar had a good turnout from representatives across the industry. Both morning and afternoon sessions were hosted by in-house Customs & VAT Manager Simon Beck, alongside newly appointed Customs Advisor Denise Hill, CEO David Holley and UK General Manager Paul Everley. Covering Brexit ‘No Deal’ Implications, Transitional Special Procedures and the Customs Declaration Service, attendees then had the opportunity to ask any questions and discuss their concerns.

Simon Beck commented on the success of the event: “This topic is something that needs a lot of discussion. The UK leaving the EU is imminent so it’s no good people burying their heads in the sand. We have taken a proactive approach to support our clients and it was received with enthusiasm from all those who attended our ‘Brexit & Beyond’ seminar. After offering our advice, highlighting considerations for clients and guiding them through next steps, it was great to see attendees discussing and sharing ideas on the various approaches in response to ongoing Brexit developments.”
