Reduce cabling and weight with digital switching

Introducing

Digital switching systems use rugged and compact digital circuit control modules instead of mechanical switches and breakers. Modules are typically customised to meet the exact needs of the system being controlled and communicate with each other using NMEA2000 networking. With digital switching systems, boat builders can significantly reduce the size and length of cabling required to distribute power throughout the boat. This makes the boat lighter overall and can also create significant cost savings compared to a traditionally wired boat.

Overview

Both Garmin’s latest release of MFD software and Raymarine’s LightHouse 3 based multifunction displays will work with digital switching systems from leading providers, including the Maretron MPower platform.

MPower is a digital switching platform that delivers simple, intuitive control over the increasingly complex systems found on today’s vessels and is a scalable and programmable solution targeted to all segments of the recreational marine market– from smaller vessels to large boats with multiple helms.

The modular nature of the MPower system simplifies installation, and consumers benefit from the simple elegance of an uncluttered and integrated helm as well as increased control and monitoring of onboard electrical and electronic systems including lighting, security systems, bilge pumps, etc. Critical alarms are delivered through mobile devices wherever there is network connectivity, providing boaters with the ability to take immediate action both onboard and remotely.
