What role does Government play in exports?

What is the role of the Government when it comes to supporting UK companies to export?

The Department for Transport (DfT) has commissioned PwC to explore how UK businesses perceive the global market, the barriers they face and their appetite to participate in projects abroad.

The Department is keen to understand what role it, and the wider UK Government, can play in enabling increased exports and helping the UK transport supply chain to thrive.

They want to hear from those who are on the ground, making business decisions on which markets to invest in and how. British Marine strongly urges anyone with an interest and something to say on the future of the export support in the UK, to complete the online survey, which will be open until 2 November.

It should take between 20-30 minutes to complete. The survey can be accessed here:

The information gathered from this process will inform and contribute to a discussion about how to overcome any barriers, identify new opportunities and change the Department’s and the UK Government’s ways of working and processes to work more efficiently. The survey is not designed to assess the effectiveness of individual initiatives or organisations.

British Marine will be engaging with the survey and has already expressed an interest in the workshops that have been proposed as part of this work. Further updates will be provided to members when more information becomes available.
