RYA Scotland is getting people afloat again at the 31st edition of Scotland’s Boat Show taking place from the 13th-15th October at Kip Marina.
RYA Scotland is getting people afloat again at the 31st edition of Scotland’s Boat Show taking place this October at Kip Marina. Following the success last year in getting hundreds of visitors to try boating for the first time, many more can experience a range of on the water activities at the show again this year.
RYA Scotland has supported Scotland’s Boat Show hosted by the Holt Leisure Group for the past three years. Working in partnership with RYA Training providers sportscotland National Centre Cumbrae, You & Sea, Ocean Youth Trust Scotland and Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, RYA Scotland is providing FREE sail and powerboat experiences during the three day event, to get you on the water straight away.
From a cruising yacht to a motor cruiser or a fast RIB ride to fully accessible dinghies, visitors to the show will have the opportunity to get afloat with RYA Scotland. The programme of on-water experiences can be booked in advance at the Scotland’s Boatshow event website or booking at the RYA Scotland Pavilion on the day.
We welcome the support of the sportscotland National Centre Cumbrae along with You & Sea who will be providing different powerboat experiences at the show. Ewan Curruthers of You and Sea, commented. “The show was really good last year with everyone very enthusiastic and a massive variety of people involved in getting afloat. We are bringing Millbrook our motor cruiser for a sedate tour around the Clyde along with our RIB, Mustang, for some faster rides with a chance to helm the boats alongside our instructors.”
The Ocean Youth Trust’s ALBA Volunteer will be taking out groups for 2 hour taster sessions from the marina and highlighting the opportunities available through the trust. Doug Donnachie said, “We always enjoy Scotland’s Boat Show are delighted to be involved with RYA Scotland’s on the water activities and looking forward to an equal success this year.”
Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park is providing a number of Hansa Dinghies, offering a small boat sailing experience that is accessible by all. It will also be the third year for the powerboating experience that is custom built for wheelchair users aboard the Wheelyboat.
James Allan of RYA Scotland said. “We are really excited at RYA Scotland to get visitors on the water again this year, especially after such a positive response last year. We have again brought together some of our close partners to offer some great opportunities afloat that cater for everyone at Scotland’s Boat Show.”
Kevin Blamire, Scotland’s Boat Show organiser explains. “Our focus for us at Scotland’s Boat Show is getting people on the water and RYA Scotland delivers a safe and successful environment to try a range of boating for the first time, while providing some excellent advice for those with more sea time ashore. It is great to have the team on board again.”
The RYA Scotland Pavilion hosts a range of marine trade bodies and of course the main RYA Scotland Stand where you can find out about our work and the many benefits of becoming an RYA member. For the first time there will be a RYA members lounge at the Chartroom Restaurant and includes a Gold Members brunch on Saturday the 14th.
RYA Scotland will also host a Cruising Raft Up on Sunday the 15th from 9.30-3.30 at the Chartroom that aims to provide a series of interactive discussions and workshops and a keynote speaker of adventurer, Jock Wishart over lunch. This is a great opportunity to gain technical advice and tips on a variety of current cruising topics.
