SIBS to host first ever Community Day on Sunday

This weekend heralds the Southampton International Boat Show’s first ever Community Day, aimed at providing people form the surrounding area with the opportunity to enjoy the show’s on water activities on the last day of the 52nd boat show.

As reported in MIN last month, local residents within the SO14 to SO19 postcodes can, on Sunday 19 September, benefit from a special ticket offer, paying a reduced price of £14 per adult ticket. This includes free entry for two children under 15 per adult ticket and Senior Citizens (adults aged 66+) also go free.

Children from the nearby St John’s Primary School have also been invited to the show to join in the community treasure hunt, offering the young children a chance to explore the 100-year old Tall Ship, Morgenster.

On Sunday’s Community Day, The Great Southampton Boat Race will be hosted, giving local residents the chance to build a boat out of cardboard and to paddle the craft to victory and top the podium. Entry is included within the price of a ticket on Community Day.
