Team Sodebo Voile announces partnership with Big Blue Yacht Communications

After the successful trial of the Banter Kit, the French sailing team, Team Sodebo Voile, has chosen Big Blue Yacht Communications (https://www.bigblueyachtcoms.com/) (BBYC) as its comms supplier.

With the noise from sails and foils making clear dialogue difficult, the team started to explore options to optimise its communications. The Banter Kit technology facilitates clear, unbroken communications when team members are out of sight, helping the helm communicate with the crew and safety boats during the race.

“The Banter Kit strikes with its simplicity of use and sound quality, it immediately became an essential element in the team,” says team engineer, Leo Legrand.

The Banter Kit uses intercoms components from Drumgrange Ltd and rugged IP67 body-worn units (which are all bucket tested before they go out the door). The Bob headsets are custom-made by BBYC to handle the harsh salt-water environment and are programmed to mitigate wind, foil and ambient noise.

This robust combination, along with the latch push-to-talk button, is said to allow for uncompromised, crystal-clear communications for both professional teams and leisure sailors needing communications for 2-4 users at a time.
