  • Lizzie Daly, a wildlife biologist, regular face on CBeebies and presenter for BBC Earth Unplugged, will be at the Show on Sunday 23 September hosting a number of interactive sessions for all the family to enjoy, from the ocean’s weirdest sea birds to her personal stories of the wild Welsh coasts. As a conservationist with a fierce passion for protecting our oceans and wild spaces, she will be inspiring visitors of all ages with her appreciation of the natural world

Miranda Krestovnikoff comments: “I’m thrilled to be involved in the opening this year’s TheYachtMarket.com Southampton Boat Show, set to be the most eco-friendly yet. Our seas and oceans are extraordinary places and I enjoy nothing more than getting my wetsuit on and exploring the fascinating watery world beneath. I see first-hand the impact we can have on these wonderful and diverse habitats and wholeheartedly support any pledge to reduce human impact on them and protect them for generations to come.

“I’m really looking forward to spending some time at the Show, soaking up the atmosphere and exploring some of the great marine wonders on display. I urge anyone who, like me, is passionate about our oceans, to visit the event throughout the 10 days for the opportunity to get up close and personal to what lies beneath our shores, discover the future innovations being used in the fight to conserve our oceans, meet a host of wildlife experts and find out first-hand how we can all make a difference in protecting the world’s waterways.”

Steve Backshall adds: “I am delighted to be able to share stories of some of my favourite adventures with visitors at TheYachtMarket.com Southampton Boat Show this year, all before I set off on my next expedition. I have been lucky enough to come face-to-face with some of the world’s most remarkable species, including creatures from the very deepest reaches of our seas. There’s always something new to discover and I can’t wait to discuss some of my experiences with visitors and answer their questions.”

In addition, the Show’s new attraction, the Science of the Sea Experience, will help Show visitors learn more about the mysteries which lie beneath the waves and explore the latest technologies which are helping to reduce the amount of plastic pollution in the oceans. It will feature a number of exhibits from the University of Southampton including a shallow rock pool and films about our relationships with plastics plus how we can work together to protect the future health of our oceans.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, TheYachtMarket.com Southampton Boat Show is Britain’s biggest boating festival showcasing the lifestyle, fun and excitement that being on the water has to offer.
