Visitors flocked to 2018 Crick Boat Show

Over 26,000 people visited the 19th Crick Boat Show, which took place at Crick Marina near Daventry in Northamptonshire, 26-28 May.

The show saw 300 exhibitors gather by the Grand Union Canal Leicester Line for three days of trading and family entertainment and was organised by the Canal & River Trust and Waterways World and Crick Marina.

Peter Johns, Publisher of Waterways World & Show Director, says: “We’ve enjoyed another fantastic three days of trading and celebration of the canal boat industry here at Crick Boat Show.

“Exhibitors reported very healthy levels of business, with boat builders securing good orders for boats and all other businesses delighted with the visitor numbers.

“Almost 1,500 enjoyed free boat trips along the Grand Union Canal and more than 2,000 attended the free seminars on boat ownership.”

As well as the latest products and services from the canal boat world, the show offered visitors free boat trips, boat handling sessions, seminars, dozens of boats on the marina to look round, live music, a real ale festival and children’s entertainment.

Matthew Symonds, Strategy & Engagement Manager for Boating for the Canal & River Trust, adds: “We believe that waterways have the power to make a real difference to people’s lives. Spending time by water makes us all healthier and happier and early research is showing evidence of this.

“We are delighted that yet again thousands flocked to this year’s Crick Boat Show, which offered a fantastic day out by the Grand Union Canal Leicester Line in the Northamptonshire countryside.

“Over 4,000 people visited the Canal & River Trust Marquee over the weekend to discover more about our wonderful 2,000-mile network of inland waterways and the recreation, health and wellbeing opportunities they offer people today.”

Next year’s show dates will be 25-27 May 2019. For more information visit www.crickboatshow.com or call 01283 742950.
