Walcon Marine supplies new pontoons for Shepperton Marina’s latest basin

Walcon Marine has begun the supply of walkways and finger pontoons to the latest basin to be opened at Shepperton Marina on the UK’s River Thames. Built to Walcon’s aluminium System 2000 specification, the finger berths are of varying lengths with berths available for every type of craft from small dayboats up to 70-foot Dutch barges.

In 2018, Walcon has so far supplied walkways and pontoons for Basin D, otherwise known as the West Lake, for up to 125 boats. Ultimately the basin will have berths for 170 boats in total, including 16 for Dutch barges and 19 for narrow boats. Walcon is supplying the units on a rolling basis, with Shepperton Marina adding new pontoons as and when it takes on new customers. Walcon is happy to offer this flexibility to marina operators who find this incremental arrangement convenient.

Shepperton Marina, in the county of Middlesex, consists of four interconnected former gravel pits plus some bankside moorings, and has been operating for over forty years. Walcon has supplied pontoons for more than 20 of those, and over the past 15 has completely replaced every original pontoon along with adding new capacity. When the West Lake is complete, the marina will have berths for 400 boats in total.
