Dr Ruth McKernan CBE, Chief Executive of Innovate UK will be visiting the Show on the morning of Press Day, meeting with a number of British Marine members and, importantly, assisting Cheetah Marine with the launch of their latest hull design. Innovate UK funding helped make this hull a reality. Innovate UK is the Government agency tasked with supporting innovation across UK industry.

Saturday 16 September
The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) & Jersey Marinas Networking Reception. TYHA receptions are famous throughout Southampton and London Boat Shows, and this year they are teaming up with the Jersey Marinas to bring a bit of sparkleand to enable marina colleagues to meet up for a drink and a chat.

Monday 18 September
British Sailing, British Marine Leisure Boating and British Marine Boatbuilders – joint association networking event. The committees of these British Marine associations are getting together to host a fantastic networking opportunity. There will be a briefing on British Marine’s Futures Project, which is seeking to tackle the important questions on leisure marine’s future customers. And British Marine’s technical team will be providing important updates on the Recreational Craft Regulations and the new Charter Code under MGN 280.

Tuesday 19 September
British Marine’s South, Wessex, Isle of Wight & Marine Trades Associations joint networking breakfast. This breakfast networking event has become a firm favourite in the Southampton calendar, bringing together members of some our largest regional and group associations for a catch-up over an early morning cup of tea. With so many attendees, there is bound to be some business done too!

British Marine’s Apprenticeship Graduation 2017. Apprentices and apprenticeships represent a hugely important part of our industry’s future. Once again British Marine and the industry will be celebrating the achievements of apprentices from right across our membership.

Women in the Marine Industry drinks reception. Back for its annual gathering, this year’s event has two excellent speakers lined up. Wendy Stowe, Harbour Master on the Beaulieu River, and Jane Vose a successful business woman and mother of Annabel Vose, the strategist with the winning Land Rover BAR Youth Americas Cup team in Bermuda.

British Marine Boat Retailers & Brokers AGM and Dinner. Yet another one of those annual events that is always popular, this British Marine association will guarantee there will be entertainment and laughter aplenty at Banana Wharf in Ocean Village on Tuesday evening.

Wednesday 20 September
British Marine’s Insurance, Finance & Legal Services Association Lunch. Those who have attended one of these lunches before will know they are great fun and offer up a relaxed environment to network with your industry colleagues (not just those in the money or legal world). This year’s lunch is taking place at Ennio’s Restaurant.

GMI Europe Meeting. This is an invite only event run in association with British Marine. Marina operators from across the UK will be discussing some of the key issues facing the sector and industry, like the now infamous word – Brexit.

London Boat Show 2018 Briefing. An absolute must attend event. British Marine Boat Shows will be providing an update on plans for the all new five day London Boat Show, which next year will include the Boating Holiday & Watersports Show and Bespoke London. Taking place at 17:15 in the Membership & Exhibitors Lounge, sponsored by PKF Francis Clark, this is essential for anyone exhibiting or thinking of exhibiting at next year’s London Show.

Thursday 21 September
Breaking into the Marine Industry (in association with Marine Resources). Now in its second year, industry professionals offer up advice and guidance to those individuals considering a career in the UK’s marine industry. There’s invaluable advice available from some of the leading companies in our membership.

Ready, Set, EXPORT. Run by the UK’s Department for International Trade, and supported by British Marine, over 130 delegates from across UK plc will be getting together to learn about the support on offer to help UK companies maximise their export potential. This event has proved so popular it is now closed for bookings.

Friday 22 September
British Marine’s Boat Show Lunch. By invitation only, this annual lunch brings together senior colleagues from across industry with some of our leading stakeholders (MPs, senior personnel from Government Departments, as well as directors from some of our partner organisations). It offers up an opportunity to engage these people with our industry and discuss key topics, while enjoying the fantastic backdrop of the Show and its marina.
