World’s biggest cruise ship moves forward

The Wonder of the Seas has taken to the seas but will not sail until 2022 because of the pandemic.

Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship was towed into port at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France’s Saint-Nazaire. Construction on the 230,000-gross tonne, 72-metre-high vessel will now continue.

Initially scheduled for completion in Spring 2021, it looks like it’ll be 2022 when it finally departs for its base in Shanghai, China.

The ship is set to host seven different ‘neighbourhoods’, like, for example, a New York-style Central Park, and will carry around 5,500 passengers and have 17 decks.
