Boatmaster apprenticeship development underway

An employer group supported by the Maritime Skills Alliance (British Marine is a member of this Alliance) has been given approval to develop a Boatmaster Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, as part of the ongoing apprenticeship reforms.

The trailblazer employer group is keen to engage with companies in the marine industry, (a) those boat operators beyond the lower Thames, and (b) operators on the non-tidal waterways about the content of the new standard.

The new apprenticeship standards are all employer led now, to ensure they meet the current and future employee training needs of businesses. This work will be of particular interest and relevance to members of the Passenger Boat Association and British Marine Inland Boating.

All British Marine members wishing to obtain more information about the proposed standard development may contact Chris Holmes at cholmes@britishmarine.co.uk
