Yachtsman killed at Weymouth YC

A yachtsman has been crushed to death by his keelboat which fell on him while he worked on it at Weymouth YC, Dorset.

The 29ft yacht was out of the water for maintenance and a few minor repairs.

Euan NcNair, commodore of Weymouth Sailing Club, said: “It is with much regret that I can confirm that there was a serious accident at Weymouth Sailing Club involving a boat in storage ashore and a single person who unfortunately died at the scene.”

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the fatality and was working with police to establish what happened. The event occurred yesterday, on the 17th of April.
