B&G partner with the AHOY project

B&G®, the global leader in the design and manufacture of world-class sailing electronics, is pleased to announce their support for the AHOY project. At the centre of the project are four friends, Alexandre, Thibaud, Romain and Jérémy, who for the last year have been preparing for a tour of the Atlantic. Their mission carries a strong message “life is full of hope, cystic fibrosis is not the end, you cannot stop doing projects and believing in your dreams”. B&G will fully equip the boat, replacing all electronic equipment on board.

This sailing tour of the Atlantic (11,000 nautical miles, 365 days, 15 countries) follows the European tour in an R6 (11,000 kilometers by car, 23 days and 19 countries) that Alexandre, with Cystic Fibrosis and his friend Romain made in 2014 to raise awareness about the fight against Cystic Fibrosis. The team see this second project as an opportunity to promote a new message, endorsing organ donation, which Alexander was able to benefit from in 2017, during his lung transplant.

The crew will set sail in September 2019, departing from the west coast of France, for a year of adventure, marked by different stages (Spain, Cape Verde, Brazil, the Caribbean and Portugal). The idea of their journey is to raise awareness about illness and disability through partnerships with schools, visits to patients, interviews with officials abroad and testimonials.

“Having a partner like B&G is a new strength in this project! Our meetings quickly demonstrated that we share strong common values. In addition, having the latest state-of-the-art electronics is critical for a trip like this, where the equipment on board must be reliable and able to stand up to the conditions we may face. Our captain was amazed by the features of the B&G system and their ease of use,” said Alexandre.

“The project of Alexandre, Thibaud, Romain and Jérémy is an adventure rich in meaning! B&G is delighted to be on board and supporting them in this Atlantic tour,” said Aurélie Teyssier, Marketing Manager Navico France.
