BMEEA Apprentice Competition 2017

The British Marine Electrical and Electronics Association (BMEEA) Apprentice Competition will take place again this year during the BMEEA Conference in Southampton on Wednesday 18 October 2017.

Returning after a short break, this year’s competition will pit teams of two, level 3 apprentices against each other. The apprentices will be given the required equipment and a brief, and will have to design and build a circuit to fulfil the brief’s requirements. The winning students will be awarded a trophy at the BMEEA AGM and they will also receive a £100 tools voucher each.

In 2014, when the competition was first run, it was based on light switching, and was won by George Wooliss & Alex Spencer of Sunseeker International. The following year (2015) saw the competition based on motor switching, latching and stopping. It was won by Will Hicks & Ashley Cobb, once again of Sunseeker International. Taking a break in 2016, the competition is back and the Association is keen to see if the apprentices of Sunseeker International will once again rise to the challenge or if another company’s apprentices will steal their title.

This year’s BMEEA Conference will be held at the Novotel Hotel, West Quay Road, Southampton on 18 October. For further details on the Competition and to register entrants, please contact: Richard Broden-Cowell at Bournemouth & Poole College (North Road, Poole, Dorset, BH14 0LS); Classroom: 01202 205284; Mobile 07847 448563; or email: broden-cowellr@bpc.ac.uk
