British Motor Yacht Show is on – but by appointment only

Premier Marinas has announced that the British Motor Yacht Show will take place over two weekends, from Saturday 1 August to Sunday 9 August (later than already rescheduled) and will comply with the current Covid-19 regulations.

To manage visitor numbers, entry to the show will be strictly by appointment, with visitors required to pre-register and make arrangements to view a specific boat or boats in advance of their arrival. Safety and security protocols will ensure social distancing is maintained at all times and there will be multiple hygiene stations for hand sanitising.

But what of the ABYA guidelines which recommend 72 hours between viewings?

“We are not expecting huge numbers, and we have extended it to nine days in order to phase people through appropriately,” says a show spokesperson. “People will be interviewed in advance and made aware of the new safety and hygiene precautions; the show will be primarily conducted on the internet with links to virtual tours. Only serious buyers will be given an allotted time between 10.00 – 19.00 on one of the nine days.”

Entry remains free, but boat viewings will be limited to a maximum of four people at a time – all from the same household (and they must have a pre-arranged private viewing appointment).

The show will feature top British brands, Fairline, Princess and Sunseeker, and this year will also welcome a number of high profile overseas brands including Agapi, Axopar, Azimut, Bavaria, Bayliner, Beneteau, Brabus, BRIGG, Chris-Craft, Greenline, Invictus, Jeanneau, Prestige, Sealine, as well as Williams Jet Tenders and Highfield RIBs.

Following submission of a request for an appointment, visitors will be contacted by the relevant brokers to discuss the boats in more detail and make appointments for private viewings.
