A partnership to develop and increase awareness and usage of marine-friendly alternatives to maintenance and cleaning products for boats and yachts has been announced between 11th Hour Racing Team and Ecoworks Marine. The two organisations will work in unison to provide sustainable solutions for every type of recreation and sailing boat user.

“Creating innovative solutions that leave a positive impact on our natural environment is at the core of all our team partnerships,” says 11th Hour Team CEO, Mark Towill. “Partnering with a company like Ecoworks will provide us with products that minimise our impact on the environment, while allowing us to compete at the very highest levels of the sport. We don’t need to compromise on performance to incorporate a sustainable solution.”

Ecoworks and 11th Hour Racing Team will also collaborate on the creation of a team-wide #oceanhour educational session on the topic of tackling ocean acidification. By understanding how both minimising the carbon footprint of daily operations and giving back more to the planet than the team takes out, the team can have a positive impact on the health of the oceans, Ecoworks says. One example of this in action are the refill stations at the racing team’s training base in Concarneau, France, and at its new base in Newport, RI. These are designed to use bulk containers for product delivery and to minimise the frequency of change for the recycled refill plastic bottles.

Princess Yachts and Ecoworks Marine are also collaborating. All Princess customers will be given the option of an Ecoworks Marine starter cleaning kit with any new yacht purchase from the Princess range.

In what Ecoworks Marine claims is a first for the industry, it’s developed a ‘Preserve the Living Seas’ range, a unique collection of cleaning products that are fully biorenewable, quickly biodegradable and sustainably formulated.

The range includes environmentally friendly interior and exterior cleaning products, as well as items for sustainable living while on board such as eco laundry cleaner and eco washing-up liquid. All products are pH neutral, non-caustic and non-flammable, making them the only range on the market to be fully International Maritime Organisation MARPOL compliant. Furthermore, they come supplied in fully recyclable packing, with even the filling inside Ecoworks’ cardboard boxes made from potato peelings that are fully biodegradable.
