Marine industry professionals join Riding4Dreams Team to fundraise for Dreamflight at The Thames Valley and London Boat Show
A team of twelve including marine industry professionals will be riding from London to Paris from the 25th – 27th July to raise funds for Dreamflight, a UK charity that changes young lives through taking children with a serious illness or disability, without their parents, on the holiday of a lifetime to Orlando, Florida.
The team who make up the fund raising group Riding4dreams are self-declared to be (mostly) overweight, unfit, pub going regulars who’s cycling experience extends as far as riding to the pub on sunny days. However, they are stepping up to do everything they can to help Dreamflight.
To raise awareness and extra funds, the team will also be aiming to simulate the full ride and complete the distance from London to Paris at the Thames Valley & London Boat Show on the 12th, 13th and 14th April. The cyclists will be at the show telling visitors about their quest and each riding for long distances throughout the three days. They look forward to your support during the event.
Riding4dreams was set up by Nick Moore, Chris Manners, Mark Harris and Richard Bates.
Nick Moore says: “Each year hundreds of people volunteer to make this trip happen. In addition to the fundraisers who support raising the £1,000,000 needed to make the single 10 day visit to Florida, there is a small army of Consultant Specialists, Doctors, Nurses and 110 escorts required to take the 192 children and 5 tonnes of medical supplies and equipment to Disneyland, Orlando. We want to do everything we can to give these Very Important Children (VICs), the holiday of a lifetime, which they would otherwise never be able to experience.”
Riding4dreams is currently sponsored by marine industry businesses TBS Boats, Bates Wharf Marine Sales, Mallorca Boats and MS Amlin Yacht Insurance. They also have support outside the industry from Radmat Building Products, Saint-Gobain PAM, Advantage London and Theatro 360.
