Mercury & Evinrude send boats and motors

Mercury Marine and Evinrude have sent engines and boats to the areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Mercury says that it has sent 30 outboard engines and 10 inflatable boats to a command centre in Texas. It also donated a 40hp outboard to Boots on the Ground, a non-profit organisation. Mercury’s Land ‘N’ Sea division has also sent 100 lifejackets to Houston for rescue efforts.

Brunswick Corp’s boatbuilders, including Boston Whaler, Lowe Boats and other builders, have also contributed boats to the effort.

BRP’s Evinrude division has sent boats with Evinrude outboards to the area. The company also said it will match donations made by company employees to the American Red Cross.

“Our Evinrude E-TEC engine with Jet Series lower unit is ideal for manoeuvring through debris-filled waters to help rescue personnel get where they need to go,” said Olivier Pierini, Evinrude director of global marketing and strategic planning, in a statement.
