Oyster Yachts set to employ 150 new tradespeople

Osyter Yachts, based at MDL’s Saxon Wharf, plans to employ 150 more tradespeople by February according to the Daily Echo.

It comes two years after the company was saved from liquidation by Richard Hadida.

“This represents a hugely exciting time for Oyster,” says Richard, Oyster owner and CEO.

“It is wonderful to see the brand returned to its former glory, with a full order book and a dedicated team of people building beautiful sailing yachts, using the best of British craftsmanship. We look forward to welcoming many more onboard in the coming months.”

The firm hopes to bring in 150 extra staff across Oyster’s shipyards in Southampton, Wroxham and Ashmanhaugh, including laminators, boat builders, joiners, electricians and engineers.

The extra staff will bring the company’s total headcount to more than 420 people. Oyster was rescued from insolvency by Richard, who was the founder of the global software business, Evolution Gaming Group. Since the takeover, Oyster says it has contracts for 18 yachts and reports having ‘strong sales’ in the current financial year. Read the full story in Southampton’s Daily Echo.
