Two-day IWA Canalway Cavalcade Celebration in 2020 Confirmed

IWA Canalway Cavalcade is going ahead on the first weekend of May next year.

Following the announcement by the UK Government to move the early May bank holiday from Monday 4th May to Friday 8th May in 2020, there was some discussion about whether IWA Canalway Cavalcade would take place on its traditional weekend at the start of May. It was decided that the event will go ahead on this date but unlike previous years, London’s largest annual waterways festival will be celebrated over two days, rather than three, running on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May.

The theme will be ‘Celebrating 200 Years of the Regents Canal’. This is a historic moment in the waterways calendar and provides many exciting opportunities for boaters to decorate their boats for the themed boat pageant and illuminated boat parade.

Commenting on the plans for IWA Canalway Cavalcade 2020, event organiser Mark Saxon says: “We have been contacted by visitors who were concerned about next year’s Canalway Cavalcade event in light of the changing plans for the bank holiday weekend. We would like to reassure everyone that our 2020 event will be continuing as usual with all our wonderful activities taking place over two days. We already have a large number of boats and stall holders booked in, so the event promises to be as good as ever.”
