VIDEO: Freighter hits piers in residential area, Netherlands

A freighter, Ilse-Marie, caused destruction on Friday morning in the Leeuwarden residential area Suderbuorren, Netherlands.

The owner of the ship says that the captain became unwell. Warning – this clip contains extreme language.

Ilse-Marie destroyed several piers and boats on the Braksand. No one was injured, police say. An investigation has been opened and residents and bystanders are being urged to submit video evidence as, according to Thomas Aling who, reports Omrop Fryslan, speaks for the police, “there are question marks everywhere.”

Aling says the skipper is still being monitored by a family doctor. The skipper has been tested for alcohol and drugs, no traces of which have been found.
