WhisperPower taps into new market of low-speed generators with SQ PRO-series

During METS 2018, WhisperPower will introduce a new line of fixed low-speed generators suitable for continuous operation and commercial applications.

This upgrade to the SQ-range of 1500 rpm generators represents WhisperPower’s anticipation of a market demand for low-noise and high-quality fixed-speed generators.

The new range, referred to as ‘PRO’, consists of models between 10 and 32 kVA and will be extended at the end of 2018 with the addition of a 50 kVA 3-phase unit. The diesel engines used for the PRO models have been selected based on their conformity with the various emission requirements that will come into force in 2019 in both Europe (Stage V) and the USA (EPA / Tier IV).

The PRO models feature industrial, air-cooled generator back-ends including those from Stamford and Meccalte and are equipped with AVR voltage control as standard. For system management and remote control, the Deep Sea Control Modules have been chosen, which also offer the possibility to monitor and operate the generator system via GSM or internet. The Deep Sea (DSE) panel is easy to connect to both analogue and digital networks including the glass bridge.

The generator systems will be assembled in Drachten at WhisperPower and will be equipped as standard with a robust, well insulated metal casing for optimum noise reduction. The units will also be available without the soundproof cover. The generators have been CCS and Russian River type approved and if required, have the option to be provided with various other type approvals. Mass-free and PTO are also among the options.

“WhisperPower has always been strong when it comes to delivering our Genverter variable speed generator systems that are connected to large battery systems and high power inverters for the use of power over longer periods without running a generator. However, there will always be a demand, especially for the larger superyachts and commercial vessels, for high-quality fixed-speed generators that can run non-stop without issue. In order to serve this market demand we have renewed and expanded our SQ range,” explains Johannes Doornbosch, International Sales Manager of WhisperPower. “Currently, this market sector is largely served by a number of American brands working together with local providers. With our new product range, we are ideally positioned to serve the market better and with more flexibility, with a product that is made in the Netherlands,” adds Doornbosch.

The new SQ PRO generators are also ideally suited for use as part of a complete system configuration such as the WhisperPower Royal Plus system with professional DC PowerCube battery chargers, a high power AC PowerCube inverter (from 7-45 kVA) and a Genverter variable speed generator for charging the batteries. The SQ PRO then supplies the electricity for the periods of high consumption.

The WhisperPower systems and products, including the SQ PRO range, will be on display in Hall 1 at stand 1457 during the upcoming METS.
