PSP offers import customs clearances
PSP Logistics has always offered export customs clearance but now it has launched its new service; import customs clearances.
As Brexit draws closer the team at PSP Logistics is preparing for what could be a monumental change to the way we move freight between the UK, Europe and beyond. Currently the Free Trade Agreement allows freight to move freely between the UK and the EU, but that agreement may soon be ending which could mean that all freight entering and leaving the UK could be subject to new customs regulations and tariffs.
An external trainer was brought to PSP Logistics to educate the operations team so everyone can confidently use the CHIEF system (Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight). The CHIEF system records the declaration to Customs of goods by land, air and sea. It allows importers, exporters and freight forwarders to complete customs information electronically, and automatically checks for entry errors.
PSP Logistics has also purchased Customs Port Badges for Southampton, Portsmouth, London Gateway, Tilbury, Chatham, Belfast and Felixstowe Port. This means the company can Customs clear containers and LCL freight coming in through these ports. Surprisingly there are not many clearance agents in the region so PSP Logistics will be providing this much sought-after service to other freight companies and UK importers.
