Pendennis recruits after three new contracts

Falmouth based superyacht specialists Pendennis has announced a strong start to 2021 with three new contracts in the pipeline.

The contracts are due to start later this spring and are a welcome boost to the company, which currently employs just over 400 specialist tradespeople and support staff at its Falmouth Docks location.

The contracts will not only provide more certainty for the 2021 order book, but will also result in the company actively recruiting for an additional 30-40 highly skilled new personnel to join them – specifically mechanical & hydraulic fitters, plumbers, outfitters, joiners, fabricators, electrical/electronics technicians and draughtspeople. Pendennis will also be inviting applications for its apprenticeship scheme, due to start later this year.

“To be able to announce this positive news so early in 2021 is welcome news for the whole team at Pendennis,” says Toby Allies, joint MD. “We pride ourselves on being a well-run international business, with a highly skilled and trained workforce. The last 12 months have been challenging, but we are weathering the storm and starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Since the onset of the pandemic, major internal operational changes have been required for the running and set up of projects at the yard, as well as restrictions on movement and disruption to the international supply chain.
