Scanstrut announces first horizontal double-entry cable seal

Outdoor marine equipment manufacturer Scanstrut, has revealed details of its new compact horizontal double-entry cable seal which, the company says, will be the cleanest, fastest fitting and most waterproof solar panel cable seal ever.

The DS-HD6 double horizontal cable seal has been designed to eliminate time-consuming and sub-standard routing of solar panel cables through wood, metal, and GRP, according to Scanstrut. The seal helps boat owners achieve a completely watertight installation, with a compact footprint of just 54mm (w) x 63mm (l) x 24mm (h). The low-profile construction is impact-resistant and also provides extra protection from water.

The cable is particularly suitable for routing two solar panel cables externally to internally on the roof of boats. It can also be used on vehicles such as campervans and agricultural vehicles.

Scanstrut says the low-profile design of the DS-HD6 provides the best water ingress protection for the smallest mounting footprint in its class. The seal is designed for installing as close to the solar panel as possible, and requires no messy sealant. Instead, captive nuts make for easy assembly and also allow for reliable repeat installations.

Last month, Marine Industry News reported that Scanstrut had appointed Nigel Smith as design director in a newly created role.
