“All aboard!” Startup looks to change holiday-making forever

Europe’s leading sailing holiday platform, Sailsquare, that connects travellers with local skippers – is now available in the UK. Their ambition? To prove to the world, sailing holidays are no longer reserved for the rich or seasoned sailors. In fact, 60% of Sailsquare bookings, are made by first time sailors.

After much international demand, the sharing economy inspired platform is now officially available in the UK, as well as in Spain and Germany – with an optimised service, a dedicated support team, and a tailored supply of travel destinations. Their offer allows travellers to sail in popular holidaying locations such as Greece, Croatia, Italy, and Spain from just €400 per week.

Sailing holidays: Authentic, affordable travel.

The connection with local skippers enriches the sailing experience with a unique insight and authenticity, thanks to their insider knowledge and wealth of sailing experience. From the beginning, the ambition for the startup was clear – to make such special sailing holidays accessible to all. The single-berth booking option, a prized feature, is what enables Sailsquare to offer the highest level of accessibility.

“Travellers no longer have to rent a whole boat, and recruit a skipper. Sailsquare enables solo travellers, couples, and smaller groups to split the cost of the sailboat or catamaran with other travellers. It is this that is revolutionary, and sets us apart from the competition” – Saxon Bosworth, Sailsquare’s UK Country Manager.

Entering the UK: Rapid international expansion.

Following investments totalling €3.3m [£2.9m], the startup has began to expand rapidly with a new International Development team, who are based in the home of European innovation, Station F – the world’s largest startup campus, situated in the heart of Paris.

As Sailsquare readies for its Series A funding, it celebrates some significant landmarks in its young history. The platform now has more than 2,000 pro-skippers, who in 2018 listed over 50,000 spots onboard holidays, in 100 of the world’s finest travel destinations, to the over 100,000 registered users.
