Catamaran Company brings Vision Yachts to Australian waters
The Catamaran Company has added South African boatbuilder Vision Yachts to its portfolio, marking a new chapter for Australian multihull buyers seeking performance and build quality. Director Ian Mackenzie says the partnership reflects growing demand for “serious, ocean-going” sailing catamarans built with both strength and comfort in mind.

“We’re thrilled to partner with such a premium and innovative brand as Vision Yachts and introduce it to the Australian market,” says Mackenzie (pictured), who founded Catamaran Company in 2003 and has 35 years’ experience in multihull sales.
“The superior structural integrity of both the interior and exterior showcases exceptional build quality, with foam-sandwich hulls and decks for strength and durability.”
Based at The Boat Works on Queensland’s Gold Coast — known as ‘the catamaran hub’ — Catamaran Company will now represent Vision’s range of performance cruising cats, including the award-winning Vision 444, its extended-scoop version the 444 ES, and the forthcoming Vision 484 due in 2026.
Vision Yachts, headquartered in Knysna, South Africa, builds all its vessels using advanced composite engineering and a design philosophy centred on safety, performance and ease of maintenance. Structural bulkheads and interior furniture are fibreglass over foam, fully bonded into the hulls to ensure rigidity and reduced flex — key for bluewater cruising.
The African boat industry and superyacht market was under the spotlight recently at the inaugural African Boating Conference, which ran in October 2025.

Shane Subichin, general manager at The Boat Works, welcomes the addition. “This partnership is a fantastic addition for our cruising community and perfectly complements The Boat Works’ growing base of catamaran enthusiasts,” he says. “It strengthens Australia’s position as a leading destination for world-class cruising.”
Catamaran Company will offer virtual walkthroughs of the Vision 444 and 444 ES, as well as factory visits and “try-before-you-buy” opportunities in South Africa. Mackenzie says he plans to accompany interested buyers to Knysna in early 2026. Vision Yachts has an events listing on its website.
