Defenda launches new sustainable fender cover
Superyacht fender manufacturer Defenda has launched a new sustainable fender cover, which the firm claims to be the world’s first product of its kind.
“End-of-life fender covers account for a huge amount of waste that’s typically destined for landfill,” says Simon Billington, managing director of Defenda. “We’ve been working on solving this problem for the last few years and are delighted to finally have a solution that achieves all of our sustainability objectives.
“Additionally, we have partnered with Circular Flow, a ground-breaking organisation that has recently opened the world’s first Neoprene recycling and manufacturing plant, allowing us to send customer’s old Neoprene covers for reprocessing while replacing them with a sustainable alternative.”
Defenda says its new Bioprene Fendaskin is made from organic raw materials and delivers improved performance and longevity, when compared to Neoprene or acrylic alternatives.
Fendaskin can be used on most inflatable fenders and is seen on several of the world’s largest private yachts.
