New Waveair system tackles foul smells on board

Wave International has introduced Waveair, a compact filtration system designed to tackle unpleasant odours commonly experienced on board boats.

The system removes both foul smells and harmful gases, including hydrogen sulphide (H2S), a toxic gas with a characteristic ‘rotten egg’ scent.

H2S is frequently produced from tank vents, especially from black water tanks connected to onboard toilet systems, and can accumulate in poorly ventilated spaces below deck.

Using a unique filter media specifically targeting H2S, Waveair’s system traps molecules from gases and vapours, effectively purifying the air.

The system is non-toxic, chemically stable and operates over a wide temperature range, making it suitable for marine environments. Filters can be easily replaced for long-term effectiveness and sourced through Wave’s global distributor network.

The Waveair is available in two sizes: the Waveair Micro (200 mm) and the Waveair Standard (430 mm). Both include brackets and hose connections compatible with 16, 19 or 25mm connectors.

The unit is installed in the vent line between the holding tank and outlet, with straightforward installation, and once installed it can operate for at least a year without requiring replacement cartridges.

Waveair products start at approximately £42 ex VAT for the Waveair Micro, and the firm says all models can be retrofitted to virtually any sail or motor boat.
