SLX Group Ltd has acquired Clements Engineering, a Bedfordshire-based manufacturer specialising in marine propellers, marine shafts, sterntube assemblies and related equipment for small-to-medium-sized leisure and commercial vessels.
Clements Engineering, which has operated in the marine sector for over 40 years, designs and manufactures bespoke propulsion engineering solutions and operates an in-house foundry and workshop. Its output includes patterns, castings and machined components supplied to customers in the UK and overseas.
Southampton-based SLX Group has supplied marine and industrial components and provided engineering services internationally since 1935.
Under the terms of the transaction, SLX Group takes sole ownership of Clements Engineering. The business will continue to operate from its existing Bedfordshire facility and retain its current workforce. Paul Williams, who has served as managing director of Clements Engineering for more than 20 years, will remain involved with the business in a consultancy role during the transition.
“We are excited about the opportunities this new acquisition brings,” says Williams. “Clements has always stood for precision, performance and service. Joining SLX Group allows us to integrate our engineering depth with a wider array of products and global support, giving our customers enhanced certainty of supply and expanded technical resources.”
SLX Group says it intends to invest in the business to increase capacity, develop production technologies and broaden the market reach of Clements Engineering’s products in the UK and internationally. Both companies will continue to support leisure and commercial marine customers.
“We welcome Clements Engineering to our group as we embark on an integration programme designed to ensure a smooth transition towards more growth opportunities,” says Justin Brooking, CEO of SLX Group.
