WATCH: Falling crane sinks yacht

A crane has fallen over while launching a yacht, crashing down on top of it and sinking it in the process.

The incident, which took place in Kronstadt, on Russia’s Kotlin Island, was captured on camera.

According to the Daily Mail, initially all seemed to be going well as the blue-hulled boat was attached to the crane and lifted across the jetty, before being lowered into the Gulf of Finland.

However, as the boat was being guided into the harbour it suddenly started to descend much faster as the base of the yellow crane left the ground and was lifted up into the air.

The boatyard’s workers scattered  as the crane’s boom crashed down on top of the yacht.

No injuries were reported, but the stricken vessel subsequently sank.
