Williams secures Solas approval for new Dieseljet models
Jet tender manufacturer Williams Jet Tenders has produced the first models of the DieselJet 565 and 625 with Solas approval. These models join the DieselJet 505 in becoming fully certified as Solas (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea) rescue tenders.
Solas, an acronym for Safety of Life at Sea, is an internationally recognised safety standard governing the construction, maintenance, and operation of seafaring vessels.
Adhering to Solas regulations involves rigorous testing and quality control measures throughout the tender’s construction. The tests include a 3m drop test, self-righting, as well as an endurance trial to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Williams says the new Solas approval allows owners with vessels over 500 GT to choose a Williams tender capable of fulfilling multiple roles — rescue, transportation, and daily operations—thereby streamlining the number of tenders required on board.

The firm recently approved HVO100 fuel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) after successful first-stage testing on selected DieselJet engines, after hiring a full-time sustainability specialist in 2023.
