In pictures: Winners of Amateur Marine Photographer of the Year 2022

Stoneways Marine has revealed the winners of its inaugural Amateur Marine Photographer of the Year competition.

First place has been awarded to Natasha Fairbrother from Hampshire, for her photo (above) showing the fun, laughter and bonding experiences which take place when afloat. Judges said it encapsulated the spirit of the competition’s theme, “life onboard.”

Second place is presented to Michael James for his image of a Fairey Huntsman with the throttle wide open and intense concentration from a crew busy on marshalling duties.

Third place goes to Nick Vass for his image showing a mystical scene of a classic wooden tender. Judges praised the serene nature that the water can form and the array of colours and textures found afloat both on the coast and inland on the rivers and canals.

The Marine Amateur Photographer of the Year Competition ran throughout November 2022, with entries closing on 11 December.

The winners will be receiving prizes, including chandlery vouchers and branded clothing, and their images are featured in the Stoneways 2023 Marine Calendar.

Alongside the top three winners, nine other photographers’ images were chosen as runners-up, and their photos are also featured in the 2023 Stoneways Marine Calendar.

Keith Lovett, MD of Stoneways Marine says: “I was truly impressed to see the number and quality of entries submitted to our 2022 photography competition. It took some lengthy discussions among the team to decide on the winners. Thank you to everyone who entered, and congratulations to all the winners. We will certainly be running the competition again in 2023, and I look forward to seeing the spectacular images taken during the upcoming boating season.”
