Through this agreement, Marina Port Vell becomes the preferred marina for superyachts for the 37th America’s Cup, to be held in Barcelona between August and October 2024.
During the months of the competition, the marina, which offers a stunning location next to the regatta course, will host dozens of superyachts visiting Barcelona for the America’s Cup, enabling front-row enjoyment of the regatta and VIP experiences.
Marina Port Vell Barcelona says the agreement reinforces the international reputation of Barcelona as a hub for superyachts in the Mediterranean, positioning the city as a leading destination and highlighting the marina’s valuable contribution to the city and its surroundings.
Together Marina Port Vell, ACE Barcelona SL, the America’s Cup official organisers and BWA Yachting, the Official Superyacht services partner for the 37th America’s Cup, will collaborate in the development of the America’s Cup Superyacht Program (ACSY).
Booking of berths at Marina Port Vell for the America’s Cup period will be managed through a centralised booking system run by BWA Yachting.
More than 40 boats and superyachts have already requested mooring at its facilities to attend this sporting event.
Grant Dalton, CEO of ACE Barcelona SL and Emirates Team New Zealand says: “From the start of our discussions with Barcelona and Catalunya as the potential host venue for the America’s Cup event, we have been very impressed by the extent and quality of marinas, ports and facilities that can be offered to visiting yachts.
“Marina Port Vell is unique in its position in Port Vell, so close to the city centre and next to the team bases for the America’s Cup event so we are very pleased with this partnership.”
