Ares Yachts has unveiled its first superyacht – Simena – a 62-metre classically inspired ketch-rigged sailing yacht.

Ares’ first vessel in the 60+ metre range, the yacht will make its world debut at Monaco Yacht Show this September and features a steel–carbon composite build, exterior design by Taka Yacht Design alongside a contemporary interior by Design Unlimited.

The launch of the Simena superyacht marks a major milestone for the Antalya-based shipyard, which was founded in 2006.

Earlier this year, the Turkish shipyard also unveiled the interior design of the 50.55m Spitfire superyacht, developed in collaboration with British design studio Bannenberg & Rowell.

At 62 metres, Simena breaks into the top 25 longest sailing superyachts in the world.

“We built a yacht that sets a new benchmark for performance, comfort and style,” says Piraye Sahinkaya Orhun, yachts projects director at Ares Yachts. “Simena blends the elegance of a classic ketch with cutting-edge technology, designed for a true connoisseur. With a cruising speed of 11 knots and a top speed of 14.5, she offers transatlantic range even without sails.” She’s perfect for any voyage in luxury and comfort.”

Ares Shipyard unveiled its superyacht brand — Ares Yachts — at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show.

Simena is designed to RINA Charter Class C requirements. The yacht features traditional laid teak decks and varnished mahogany exterior joinery to evoke a golden age of sailing, while contemporary comforts are subtly integrated throughout.

The superyacht can accommodate 12 guests and nine crew, with the owner’s suite positioned forward on the main deck.

Simena has a hybrid drive system, enabling the yacht to operate silently under electric power up to 6 knots. In addition, an 882kW (1183hp) diesel engine can supplement the 220kW electric motors, to reach a claimed top speed of 14.5 knots, with a range of 4,000 nautical miles when cruising at 11 knots.
