Barrus appoints Joel Devine as production engineering manager
UK marine engine distributor Barrus has named Joel Devine as production engineering manager within its production team.
Devine takes on the newly created role as the company continues to invest in its manufacturing capability, operational efficiency and future product development.
Having been with the UK marine engine distributor and custom engineering firm for several years, Devine brings significant experience in manufacturing engineering, operations and business transformation. His previous experience includes roles at Jaguar Land Rover and fintech firm Revolut.
In his new post, Devine will lead the production engineering team developing efficient manufacturing processes and managing the transition of new products from design into full production. Working alongside Barrus’ R&D, special products, and commercial departments, he will focus on scaling capacity, driving process consistency, and boosting productivity.
Devine comments: “Production engineering sits at the heart of turning innovative ideas into successful products. It’s about creating the processes that allow great engineering to be manufactured efficiently, consistently and at the quality our customers expect. Barrus has ambitious growth plans, and this role provides an exciting opportunity to build the systems and capabilities needed to support that journey.”
This latest appointment forms part of a wider programme of investment across the Barrus engineering and manufacturing teams.
In March 2026, the company appointed Lee Allen as commercial manager for its marine division, with responsibility across its marine leisure, marine diesel and equipment portfolios.
Barrus says it will continue to strengthen collaboration between research, engineering and manufacturing while implementing new digital systems and lean manufacturing principles to improve productivity across the business.
David Etherington-Smith, sales manager, special products, adds: “Joel has already made a significant contribution to Barrus, and his appointment to this new role reflects both his expertise and our continued investment in strengthening the link between product development and production. His leadership will help us respond more quickly to customer requirements while continuing to deliver the quality and innovation Barrus is known for.”
