Barton Marine partners in Hungary

Barton and Galco Ropes team

Barton Marine is partnering with Amarcord Marine to distribute its product range in Hungary. Barton products will be available from Amarcord Marine in Galco Yachting Rope shops, online and at the company’s 12 Galco Yachting Rope Shows scheduled this year.

Amarcord Marine is the sister company of Galco Yachting Ropes, an established family-owned manufacturer. The Barton range of marine equipment complements the wider Amarcord Marine offering and the new partnership will create a ‘one stop shop for the Hungarian boating marketplace and territories’.

Mariann Gal, owner of Galco Yachting Ropes/Amarcord Marine, says: “We are enthusiastic about supplying the premium quality Barton products, made in the UK, to Hungarian sailors and our industrial customers.  Barton, similar to Galco, is a traditional company with similar values and pays special attention to clients’ needs, fast shipping and excellent customer service. An important factor of our collaboration is our relationship with CEO Suzanne Blaustone and the Barton Team.  Their energy, dedication and passion for Barton products guarantees a fruitful partnership.”

Glaco boasts six generations of expertise in creating quality ropes for general use and two generations specifically for sailors.

Suzanne Blaustone, CEO Barton Marine, adds: “We absolutely love working with Amarcord Marine as distributor for our extensive high-performance range of deck equipment for Hungarian sailors and also seeking further industrial targets.  With retail outlets in key locations and a newly developed web shop, the Barton range will be more accessible in the region than ever before. Mariann’s enthusiasm to support and serve the marketplace is infectious.”

Sailing in Hungary is a vibrant and growing sport, centred primarily around Lake Balaton, the largest lake in central Europe measuring nearly 600 square kilometres and stretching nearly 80 kilometres along Hungary’s southern foothills.

The Hungarian government is an active supporter of the industry with the development of youth programmes and training schemes, which has had a positive impact on uptake with increased international presence on the racing scene and several Olympic sailors competing on the world stage.

Barton Marine celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2023 having been a worldwide supplier of blocks since 1948 in Whitstable, Kent.
