Belfast Harbour Marina reopens following expansion
Recent refurbishment has brought the total length of the marina’s pontoons from 775 metres to 807 metres.
Belfast Harbour Marina has reopened following a refurbishment programme that has increased capacity for yachts and recreational vessels.
The marina is located between Titanic Belfast and the SSE Arena, and has now extended the length of its pontoons from 775 metres to more than 807 metres. This has raised total berth capacity from 60 to 67, with each berth equipped with water and pay-as-you-go electricity connections.
Alongside the berthing expansion, the marina has undergone refurbishment to support year-round operations. The addition of restraint piles and the extension of Pontoon D have enabled the restoration of 12 berths that were previously limited during winter months and adverse weather events.
The refurbishment has been actioned in response to growing demand as the region draws increased interest in leisure berthing among visitors to Belfast. Expansions in 2009 and 2019 supported major events such as the Tall Ships, while the latest 2026 refurbishment responds to seasonal increases in demand from both long-term berth holders and visiting vessels.
Belfast Harbour Marina can accommodate leisure vessels up to 25 metres and has a maximum draught of 3.7m.
Facilities include showers, kitchen and laundry amenities, as well as free wi-fi.
Belfast Harbour Marina was awarded Blue Flag accreditation for the first time in 2025, recognising the marina’s commitment to high standards in environmental management and facilities.
Duncan Paterson, marina manager, says: “Demand to use the marina is extremely strong, with a solid base of long-term berth holders alongside visiting leisure craft, and that’s driving ongoing discussions around further expansion.
“Ultimately, this isn’t just about berths, it’s about enhancing the waterfront. The marina plays a key role in attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and contributing to Belfast’s maritime heritage. With its prime location, it has real potential to increase tourism, footfall, and even create both direct and indirect employment opportunities in the area.”
