Blue Peter Marine relocates from Thailand to Cape Town

Legislation specialist Blue Peter Marine has relocated to Cape Town, South Africa, after more than a decade based in Thailand. Though now headquartered in Cape Town, the company says it maintains its worldwide operations with regular visits to key yachting centres for CE certifications, surveys and compliance assessments.
As an accredited inspector for the International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI), Blue Peter Marine conducts marine certification and compliance inspections. IMCI is a notified body for recreational craft certification, recognised by the European Commission under the Recreational Craft Directive (RCD). This accreditation allows the company to carry out inspections and certifications valid throughout the European Union and internationally.
Blue Peter Marine says the decision to return to Cape Town aligns with the city’s growth in yacht manufacturing and superyacht services. The marine manufacturing industry has expanded significantly, with the sector exporting one catamaran per workday and an annual growth of 22 per cent, increasing its value from R3.2bn (£134.4m) to R4.9bn (£205.8m).
“With the incredible growth of the yachting sector here, which I serviced for over 25 years already, Cape Town is the ideal base to continue supporting clients worldwide while staying connected to key industry developments,” says Peter Jacops, founder of Blue Peter Marine.
Beyond CE certification and compliance surveys, the company is expanding its services to include consultancy on CE marking, compliance for machinery, electronics, medical devices and equipment for explosive atmospheres. Other services cover general product safety compliance, risk assessment and conformity with EU directives. Additional IMCI certification services include post-construction assessment, technical documentation review and production quality system assessment.
Blue Peter Marine also provides independent advisory services for yacht buyers, insurance and damage reports, sustainability and environmental consulting, and industry and government advisory.
“This move allows for easier accessibility to my clients while maintaining excellence in our global services,” Jacops adds. “Our IMCI accreditation underscores our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in marine certification and compliance.”
Blue Peter Marine’s new office is located at Wessels Road 12, Kenilworth 7708.
