Boat Fenders Direct buys AquaMarine from Bainbridge

two men shake hands to seal a deal

Bainbridge International has sold its long running AquaMarine brand to Boat Fenders Direct. This move is part of the former’s corporate restructuring. That’s focusing on key brands with high growth potential, including the Ocean Rodeo brand of kite and wing foils (acquired at the end of 2024).

“The AquaMarine brand is steeped in history,” says MD of Boat Fenders Direct, Gregg Witherington (pictured right, shaking on the deal with Bainbridge’s Gavin Lacey). “We are delighted to be part of its future where we aim to build on its legacy. We have some exciting plans for the brand and the acquisition will help us offer complementary products to our core boat fender range.”

AquaMarine has a proud history spanning over 60 years. Since its inception, the brand has designed and developed a wide range of marine products while remaining true to its ethos: the conception and manufacture of products designed by sailors, for sailors.

The product range includes fenders, docklines, onboard accessories, hardware and chandlery essentials. Bainbridge says that under the ownership of Boat Fenders Direct (its website contains its product offering), the AquaMarine brand is set to continue evolving while staying rooted in its core values.

The AquaMarine domain names will transfer to the new brand owners and as such the current website www.aquamarineint.com will still be available to register interest in a trade account while Boat Fenders Direct works on a brand new B2B site.

For current Bainbridge customers wishing to place orders for retained brands such as SeaStar/Dometic, AquaFlex cables, TeamO Marine, Ocean Rodeo and Zhik amongst others visit www.bainbridgint.com, and login in using the same login in details. The team also remains available to help.

“We’re proud of the role AquaMarine has played in supporting the leisure marine market, and we’re confident that Boat Fenders Direct will continue to build on that success,” says Laurence Mead, chairman of Bainbridge. “At Bainbridge, we remain focused on providing our trade customers with access to high-quality marine equipment through our central platform.”
